An actress from Bollywood, Tulip was born in Mumbai. She studied in Jamnabhai Narsee School & graduated in Science from the Mumbai University. Tulip’s father Kishor Joshi, a Gujarati and her mother,  Zabel Hayakian, an Armenian, were proud to see their daughter participating in the Miss India pageant alongside Bollywood queens like Priyanka Chopra.
Post the beauty pageant, Tulip enjoyed her work that included advertisement campaigns for global brands such as Smirnoff, Pepsi, Vicks amongst a few and also starred in music videos, one of which was a tribute to the legend nusrat fateh ali khan.
She then signed up as the lead in her first feature film with YashRaj films.
Tulip got nominated for several awards across the country as the best debutant including as ‘Superstar of tomorrow at Stardust Awards ‘.

Her acting skills were appreciated by critics when she stunned everyone with her gritty portrayal of Kalki in ‘Matrubhoomi’, the 2005 film that won several awards at various film festivals across the world. The film examines the impact of female foeticide and female infanticide on the gender balance and consequently the stability and attitudes of society, with Tulip portraying the female lead. The film earned stupendous critical acclaim across film festivals worldwide and bagged several awards such as:
FIPRESCI Award in Parallel Section at the Venice Film Festival
Audience Award for Best Film at the Kozlin Film Festival, Poland
Audience Award for Best Foreign Film at Thessaloniki Film Festival
Audience Award for Best Film at River to River Florence Indian Film Festival
Additionally, the world- renowned ‘Time Magazine’ rated Matrubhoomi as “One of the year’s top ten films in the world”.
Tulip ventured into Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Punjabi and Malayalam films and earned a name for herself.

Tulip stole the thunder with her spine-chilling portrayal of a suicide bomber in Mahesh Bhatt’s 2007 film titled ‘Dhokha’. The film was acclaimed for its thriller quotient and Tulip’s credibility as the character of an apparent suicice bomber.

Tulip has been awarded the ‘Most Inspirational Woman of Maharashtra 2017’
